The Recipients of the 2022 Tia Rice Scholarship are Alex Theis and Katie Rumschlag!

Alex Theis:

Alex is a graduating senior at Mohawk High School, with plans to pursue a degree in Agronomy at OSU. He has 8 years involvement in the 4-H club. Alex also contributed to many of his school’s clubs and organizations, including: Wrestling, National Honor Society, French Club, French National Honor Society, and Mohawk Mentorship Club.

Katie Rumschlag:

Katie is a senior at New Riegel Local Schools. After graduating, she will be attending OSU, with plans to major in Agricultural Business. Katie has been involved in many of her school’s sports teams, including volleyball, basketball and softball teams. Outside of athletics, Katie belongs to the Students Against Destructive Decisions (SADD). National Honor Society, and Jacket Leadership groups. Katie has helped the 4H groups – especially the New Riegel Rawhide and Woolies group – since the 3rd grade, and is part of her local church group.

We would also like to congratulate Jacob Clouse and Katelyn Hardina – the recipients of the 2022 SCD Scholarship!

Jacob Clouse:

Jacob is a graduate of New Riegel High School, and will be attending Ohio Northern University, with plans to major in electrical engineering.

Jacob has been involved with several groups and organizations: National Honors Society, Jacket Leadership, Student Council, and Boy Scouts. He has also been involved with Good Shepherd, and in his local church group.

Katelyn Hardina:

Katelyn is a graduate of Tiffin Columbian High School. While she has yet to decide on a college after high school, her choices for a Pre-med or Nursing program are between: Oakland University, The University of Cincinnati, The University of Toledo, and Youngstown State University.

Katelyn has been involved with Students Against Destructive Decisions (SADD), and her High School Bio Club. She has also helped with the River Clean-up project through the National Honors Society, and has volunteered in many ways through her school’s service program – reading to elementary students, blood drives, ticket sales, concession stands, and trash clean-up).

We wish Alex, Kaitie, Jacob, and Katelyn the best of luck in their future endeavors. We are excited to see what the next leaders of conservation accomplish!
