Seneca Conservation District is preparing to observe Ohio Soil Health Week and to have its board of supervisors election.

Ohio Soil Health Week is set for Nov. 10-14.

The community is invited to stop by the office anytime 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Nov. 14 to purchase lunch from Street Bistros food truck, to learn about soil health and to vote in the board of supervisors election.

The open house-style event will be located in the office’s parking lot at 3140 S. SR 100, Tiffin.

The election for the board of supervisors will occur Nov. 13-Dec. 12.

Three candidates are running for two seats, and supervisors will be elected to a three‐year term starting Jan. 1, 2026, and ending Dec. 31, 2028.

Jess Berlekamp grew up on her family’s farm. She obtained paramedic and professional firefighter certifications. She worked as a paramedic, and went back to school to obtain a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science Engineering Technology from University of Toledo. She returned to the farm full-time in 2014 and started her own farming operation in 2020. She lives outside of Old Fort, and she and her father farm around 800 acres.

David E. Cassidy has been farming since 1979. While growing up, he helped his father with farming, and he has 27 years of maintenance experience in grain elevators/flour mills. The home farm is located north of New Riegel, and the family farms around Fostoria, Bascom and Adrian. David and his son, Drew, farm about 1,100 acres and have been contract hog growers for Kalmbach Feeds since 2012.

David Cramer is a fifth-generation farmer on his family’s sesquicentennial farm in Loudon Township. He attended Ohio State University and received a Bachelor of Science degree in agriculture. Over the years, David has served on the Seneca Conservation District board of supervisors and also served on the Ohio Corn Growers Board.

Individuals who own or occupy land within Seneca County and are 18 years old or older may vote in the election.

Cast a ballot at the SCD office, 3140 S. SR 100, Suite D., Tiffin, 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, Nov. 13-Dec. 12.

Or, vote absentee from Nov. 13-Dec. 12 by requesting the ballot application and election ballot from the SCD office, by calling (419) 447-7073 or emailing [email protected].

Absentee ballots must be received by the SCD office by 4 p.m. Dec. 12.
