Group Drainage Assistance

Group drainage assistance is a great way for multiple landowners to work together with our office to improve the overall quality of their properties.

Service Inclusion

When our office is contacted by a group of landowners to solve a drainage issue, we work with them by installing a drainage tile or drainage ditch.

The ditch or tile is normally installed through multiple properties, which requires permission from each landowner.

Service Implementation

A property owner designated by the group to lead the project may contact our office and a site visit with the group will be scheduled.

The group will have multiple meetings with our office to discuss what the structure will consist of (tile or ditch). A watershed will be determined to see what property owners contribute to that watershed.

From there, all the property owners within that watershed will be asked to pay their share for the project. For those who are willing to contribute, they will vote on a contractor and bid for the project.

The structure will be installed in accordance with an engineer’s plan, and inspected by a member of our office.

It's important to note that no one can be forced to contribute to pay for these projects.

The only way that could happen is if the County Commissioners feel the improvement project benefits a large group of people (this rarely occurs) and petition the project to be completed.
