School Field Trips
Ohio content standard based AND fun field trips are available spring and fall at Proving Ground Farm (PGF).
Proving Ground Farm is a beautiful space for visitors to explore nature and agriculture safely.
PGF is a functioning farm with trails, ponds, wetlands, and 80 acres of cropland. We have many different types of habitat, vegetation, wildlife, and birds.
Learning at Proving Ground Farm is always fun, led by children’s natural curiosity.
Service Inclusion
This service is free to Seneca County Schools. Out of county schools are welcome to book on a first-come, first-serve basis with a suggested donation.
The field trips offer many different programs including but not limited to:
- Animals
- Nature
- Conservation
- Trees
- Plants
- Habitats
- Birds
- Hayrides
- Fishing
- Creek Exploration
- Bird Identification
- Food chains
You will also have access to our picnic shelter during your visit. Our field trips can be a full-day or ½-day custom experience for grades K-High School.
What To Expect
Once you contact us, we make the plans with you so the day is customized to your classroom goals and the kids’ interests. We ask that you coordinate transportation to and from the farm.
When you arrive, we help the students get into small groups and prepare them to have fun with short stations of various activities and experience areas throughout the farm.
All abilities of students are welcome, though not all activities are fully accessible, accommodations are happily made for all ages of students to enjoy the farm!
You won’t be combined with other schools during your trip - this is an individual experience for your group specifically.
We do ask that everyone brings a packed lunch and drinks for the day. It is requested that all trash be taken with visitors when they leave. All activities are outdoors so please dress appropriately for the weather.
