
Seneca County was represented by five teams – two from Hopewell-Loudon FFA and one each from New Riegel FFA, Seneca East FFA and Tiffin-Sentinel FFA – during the Area 1 Envirothon at Williams County Conservation Club on Wednesday.
The Seneca East team placed fourth and is advancing to the state competition, set for June 1-3 in Steubenville.
Team members are Captain Addy Dawson, Dylan Baker, Logan Drown and Ethan Mullet. The team is coached by FFA Adviser Milan Pozderac.
Other winning teams included Fairview, first; Fort Jennings, second; and Hicksville, third.
They were among 32 teams that competed in the Envirothon, which is an outdoor challenge for high school students to test knowledge in soils, aquatics, forestry and wildlife.
The contest is designed to stimulate and reinforce students’ interest in the environment and natural resources while encouraging cooperative decision making, team building and problem solving.
Seneca Conservation District’s Board of Supervisors sponsored the local teams.
Team members for Tiffin-Sentinel FFA were Captain Breanna McNutt, Olivia Fitch, Mikaelin Taylor, Willow Ward and Tyanna Zeigler.
Hopewell-Loudon’s team 1 members were Captain Brooke Clouse, Kennedy Clark, Tristan Flory and Maveric Flory.
Hopewell-Loudon’s team 2 members were Captain Katelynn Schneiderman, Lola Wilson, Avary Hoyer and Colton Reinhart.
New Riegel team members were Captain Molly Pahl, Lucas Conley, Kamryn Fry, Henry Lucius and Logan Zoeller.
Anna Horner advises the Sentinel team, and Adam Horner advises the teams from Hopewell-Loudon and New Riegel.
Area 1 includes Allen, Auglaize, Crawford, Defiance, Fulton, Hancock, Hardin, Henry, Lucas, Marion, Morrow, Ottawa, Paulding, Putnam, Sandusky, Seneca, Van Wert, Williams, Wood and Wyandot counties
