
Board of Supervisors organizes for 2025
Seneca Conservation District’s Board of Supervisors organized for 2025 during a meeting January 14.
Liberty Township farmer Joe Kimmet was re-elected as this year’s board chairman. He started on the board in 2012, had raised Angus cattle for 29 years and served as a township trustee for 28 years.
Eric Powell, a farmer in Adams Township who has completed five years on the board, was re-elected as vice chairman. He is a grain farmer who uses intercropping and strip tilling practices.
Jonathan Feck of Big Spring Township is starting his seventh year and is serving as the board’s fiscal agent. He raises cattle, corn, beans and wheat.
Roger Fruth, who has been serving on the board for 12 years, lives in Hopewell Township and is the board’s secretary. He is a grain, hay and straw farmer and previously raised hogs. Fruth was re-elected to the board in December and was sworn into another three-year term during the Jan. 14 board meeting.
Member Mark Reinhart is starting his third year serving on the board and farms in Big Spring Township. He used to raise chinchillas.
Board meetings are 7 p.m. the second Tuesday of each month.
In 2025, they are February 11, March 11, April 8, May 13, June 10, July 8, August 12, September 9, October 14, November 11, December 9.

Meetings are open to the public. If a meeting is canceled or rescheduled, it will be posted at the office and on the Facebook page.
SCD celebrated its 75th anniversary last year.
The team works to conserve resources, educates and inspires the community to support the future, through science and wise, conscious choices on farms, in homes and at schools in Seneca County.
SCD has services available to work with farms, schools and homeowners.
Its programs include ditch maintenance, farmland preservation, fertilizer placement tool rental, floodplain determination, group drainage assistance, H2Ohio, hands-on workshops, historical maps and aerial images, manure application consulting, manure law and interpretation, no-till drill rentals, rural drainage consultation visits, school field trips at Proving Ground Farm, soil health farm visits, voluntary nutrient management planning and wildlife resources.
