National Audubon Society enlists the help of volunteers to conduct the annual Christmas Bird Count. This year marks the 126th annual bird count, which takes place from Dec. 14-Jan. 5.

Tiffin’s bird count, which has occurred since 1960, is set for Saturday, Dec. 20. Proving Ground Farm is a site for the bird count, which is broken down into various “circles” that encompass a 15-mile radius around a town or other focal point.

For the Seneca County area, the focal point is the city of Tiffin. Those who want to take part in this year’s count must register with the local “compiler” who will provide additional information.
