Hear multiple perspectives from academia and the industry on how to best identify, manage, and control the weeds in your fields. We’ll discuss pre and post application options, the role cover crops can play in weed suppression, how residual herbicides can affect certain cover crops, and more.

Cameron speaks nationally and internationally on farm operation diversification. His multi-generational family farm integrates a multi-layered approach of practices with a focus on soil rejuvenation. Mills Family Farm raises a variety of items, from soybeans and corn to beef and pork.

Laura Johnson

Director of the National Center for Water Quality Research


At the NCWQR, long-term monitoring of streams and rivers is used to examine the influence of human activities on water quality. Laura is best known for research examining the linkages between agricultural runoff and harmful algal blooms in Lake Erie.

Glen Arnold

OSU Field Specialist - Manure Nutrient Management


Glen conducts field research on using liquid livestock manure to replace commercially purchased fertilizer on wheat and corn. Capturing the value of the nutrients in the manure can help pay for the additional manure hauling expense.

Knox County, Ohio


Tim is an award winning no-tiller from central Ohio with expertise on the practical applications and benefits of precision ag technology for no-tillers. He will discuss the benefits of adding wheat back into his cropping rotation and how he’s been able to “grow” nitrogen after his wheat crop. You’ll learn why wheat is part of a whole-farm management system and how wheat positively changes the soil.

Eric Powell

Eric Powell is a self-employed farmer and raises corn, soybeans, and wheat alongside his father. He enjoys thinking outside the box in the fields and in the shop. He likes to engineer and build new equipment to customize his operation and to constantly adjust the way he manages inputs.

Eric has experience as a nutrient management technician, an agronomist, and currently raises corn, soybeans, wheat, and cattle in the northeast corner of the county. His family are long-term no-till and cover crop farmers that combine a multi-layered approach of practices with a focus on soil health.
